The majority of us, if we were to see people who are hurting would go up to them and attempt to console them or see if there was anything we could do to help them. Unfortunately, we often don’t have that compassion for ourselves when we do something that we are either embarrassed about or are ashamed of. The self-talk you have is vital for your success. If you continually beat yourself up for something then you are your worst enemy and it will be doubly hard to overcome whatever it is you are experiencing. Conversely, do you congratulate yourself when you do something that you are proud of? What types of compliments do you give yourself when you accomplish something? Most people don’t compliment themselves but simply note they achieved something and move on. We have it backwards, give yourself the best compliments and encourage yourself when you are struggling. Be a friend, not a foe.
